Post-Production 2- "HS Florida Stars"

As I am finishing up my  project,  I decided to add a basketball picture to show he is a dual-sport athlete and to replace one of the football pictures. I realized my athlete was not standing out as much as I wanted  to,  so I added more color to the outline to make him pop more.

Post-Production 1- "HS Florida Stars"

I decided to move around some of the pages to make the magazine smoother. Meaning the pages relate to each other from one page to another. I moved my page 3 which is my "Coach Interview" page to page 4. My original page 4 was the "About the Athlete" page which in my opinion it would fit the magazine better. I also made the text bigger and added more information to the athlete to fill up some empty space on the pages.

Peer Review

After presenting my magazine project to the class I was greeted with a bunch of positive comments. My peers said that they liked the color and shadows that were on my magazine. They liked how I would put shadows on images to make them pop out more. They suggested that I fix a few things to make my magazine better which was great because I love suggestions. They suggested that on my content page I would make it go straight down because the zig-zag style on my content title was a little confusing at first glance. My teacher said that I should put the coach interview on page 4 instead of page 3 to make it more organized. An idea for me to change the design on my "About the Athlete" page to make it stand out more and more appealing to the eye. A student suggested that I contrast the colors a bit to add more of an effect. Lastly, I was given a tip to change the word font to make it a little smaller and change the color of the shadow.  I was very appreciative o...

1st Draft: "HS Florida Stars"

I made some last-minute changes to my magazine. My final page was going to be a list of college workouts athletes could do at home. I thought about it and decided an about page about the athlete would fit the magazine better.

Production 2- "Finishing Touches"

Since my last blog post, I have gathered many photos of my athlete. The magazine is almost finished and the finishing touches are being made right now. I did have trouble with the program InDesign because it is the worst photo editing software I have ever used. But I did the best I could. The next blog post should have everything complete in it.

Production 1- "Coach Interview"

Image
On December 18, 2020, I interviewed a coach that had years of experience coaching the player I am doing my magazine on. I asked the coach questions like "Is he a team player?" and "How is his work ethic on and off the field or court?" I got to take pictures of the coach and have gathered 5  informal  questions about how the athlete is. I am planning on scheduling a photoshoot of my athlete in the gym to get some pictures for my title, context, and about the athlete page. I have many ideas of how I want to lay the magazine out.

Storyboard

Image
The experience of creating my storyboard was enjoyable. It lets me use my creativity and make a sports magazine just like Sports Illustrated. Which was a big inspiration to the magazine. Before we could make the magazine, we had to come up with a plan. “ Storyboards  are classified into four principal levels: planning, idea, organization, and communication boards.” So, we had to come up with a plan.     Firstly, “Storyboarding demands a high level of participation. But once the ideas start flowing, group members tend to become immersed in the problem. They begin to "hitchhike"  on or  embellish each other's ideas.” Since my partner and I both play sports and have a huge passion to play at the next level. We came up with the idea of doing a sports magazine that would help underrated players get noticed by college scouts. The title page of the magazine is going to have the cover athlete with the big bold title above their head. It will also have small informa...
