Title Sequence Clip Review
Title Sequence Clips
In the movie “Scream” I liked the BIG red letters that had screaming in the background while displaying “Scream”. It helped grab the audience's attention and gave the feeling of fright or cautions of what's going on. I was also impressed that the girl and the guy on the phone were talking about their favorite “scary movies”. They mentioned other horror movies and the girl pulled out a knife as she said “Halloween”. This grabbed my attention because the knife was the same weapon the killer uses in Halloween. It was cool how they connected those different horror movies into one movie.
In “2001: A Space Odyssey” the opening scene starts off with a long black screen. Giving the feeling of emptiness. It gives off the feeling of really being in space where its pitch black, cold, and empty. With music in the background getting louder and louder which gives the illusion of something is getting closer.
In “Raging Bull” the opening scene is black and white with the title of the movie in red bold letters. Red is also the color they use to make the bull rage and attack the bull wrestlers. The camera slowly moves to the right you can tell that there is a boxer warming up in a boxing ring. Flashes of light in the background giving the effect of a camera flash. Showing that a big event is going on like a big boxing match is about to happen. Gives off the feeling of excitement.
In “Goldfinger” it starts off with a circle covering the screen. Giving the effect that we are looking through a gun barrel. A man in a tuxedo slowly walks into frame and pulls out a gun. Shoots towards the screen and red liquid starts covering the screen. Giving the effect of being shot and blood coming out. This movie can 99% be recognized as being a James Bond movie.
In “Apocalypse Now” the opening scene is showing fire burning down trees with helicopter noises in the background. A song is playing with the lyrics of “this is the end”. Giving the feeling of war. Specifically, the Vietnam War. It also shows clips of a man sleeping showing that he could be dreaming. Showing that he could have been a soldier that fought in the Vietnam War. The man sleeps with a gun near him showing he has PTSD about the war which a lot of soldiers' counter coming back from the war.
